I am still having trouble focusing and pin pointing one aspect of my research question…I now I have written my abstract and it seems I will be focusing on only the father child relationship. In my research paper i will use this main focus to compare and support my thesis.

As I was searching the databases and articles…I found a case in which a child gives his own experience of growing up in this life style. I think that it is relevant to hear actual stories from kids and how they feel about their home environment. I also found…a book called “Law and Human behavior” It talks about whether or not children should visit their parents in jail…as well as what types of influences are left on the children because their parents are in jail. Another source that I have found is an article by Joyce Arditti, in which she goes into depth about incarceration and family effects. I think I starting off well in finding some sources.

yesterday i started a thesis in which i wrote a two page paper…today i woke up and change arguements and sides…so when i came to class i realized my paper was jumbled. i agree with their comments and i intend to make my paper less homer simpson like and more college level arguements…i also will try to mix my examples from each article in with the whole paper…

the main thing i started to focus on when looking at the article was again the look back on history and focus on how they talked about progression and the oppression of being gay. Also what linked this article to the others was the talk about slang words and their meanings. Something I thought about after reading this article was how we “feed” off each other, how slang terms and stories spread so quickly. Also the different groups of people became relevant to me after reading this…whether it be war and our biased opinion on the opposite side, females being called words that make them feel inferior, or to be unaccepting of those who are different. We choose to judge no matter what year it is.

After reading the article “Bitch” I noticed the connection between the war article and this one. The idea that as time goes back we progress and change meaning of reality seems to be something that is in both articles. This article shows the different definitions and meaning of the word Bitch and how it has changed throughout history. Through time we are always changing in so many different aspects of life. It also shows how every individual interprets different words, stories and ideas differently. Through word of mouth and passed down from generations it is interesting to see how things change and progress.

After reading this article on the images of war, I noticed some key points. The article argues the difference between realism and actual war images. At first photography portrayed stand still photographs mostly because it was too dangerous to capture the moments of war during combat. Because of this, many pictures were of dead soldiers. An example; “A Harvest of Death” a picture of Gettysburg and the dead soldiers left behind. I found this comparison to be interesting because he talks about the unrealistic pictures of war because of the stand still shots…while then talking about the realism of photography from those gruesome shots of dead bodies after a battle had taken place. This article was well detailed with good imagery and detail. I also liked how it progressed into talking about first how photography portrayed war and then how movies began to capture the war scene. It also suggested that pictures and movies try to persuade the audience into believing what ever was published.

Cultural studies and social sciences…my theme

After reviewing certain stories I have chose to write my multiple sourced essay on the theme cultual studies and social sciences. As I am looking over the different articles I have found some of them to be interesting, these include; “From Realisom to Virtual Reality: Images of America’s Wars,” by Franklin and “The Talented Myth: Are Smart People Overrated?” by, Gladwell. I also plan on looking at “Bitch” by Beverly Gross. These articles seem like a good place for me to start in trying to develop a thesis.

Trying to figure out my theme…

I was reading through the stories and I noticed one that was referring to the images of America’s Wars. This grabbed my attention because I find war stories and history to be very interesting. As I glance through the literature I was reminded of all the wars that our planet has encountered and that we seem to almost forget about as we go on from day to day. But we have progressed and become this way because of war and the outcomes of war.

If I walked into a parlor, my parlor would be a hospital I would be working with other cardiac rehabilitators and kinesiologists and so forth… At thhe moment I would be slightly hesitant but very interested and excited to listen and learn. My education now consists of memorizing and trying to grasp concepts of human movement. In the future I would like to be at a stage where I do not second guess myself but instead be confident when I assess a client or patient. I would like to join the group that is talking about improving the athletes performance through exercise and nutrition.
